Hallo everyone, I got assignment from Mr. Romel Noverino as a lecture of copy writting on October, 22th 2014 to analyse the relation between love and Pond’s product in advertisment “Pond’s Love Conquers All”.
What is Pond’s?
Pond's is a brand of beauty and health care products, currently owned by parent company the multinational corporation Unilever. Pond's Cream was invented in the United States as a patent medicine by pharmacist Theron T. Pond (1800–1852) of Utica, New York, in 1846. Mr. Pond extracted a healing tea from witch hazel which he discovered could heal small cuts and other ailments. The product was named "Golden Treasure." After Theron died, it would be known as "Pond's Extract."
In 1846, the "T.T. Pond Company" was formed with Pond and other investors. Soon after, he sold his portion of the company because of failing health. He died in 1852. In 1914, the company was incorporated under the name "Pond's Extract Company".
The company then moved to Connecticut establishing its manufacturing center there. Later it moved its sales office to New York City. In 1886, Pond's began to advertise nationally. They advertised under the name of Pond's Healing until 1910. By the twentieth century, the company's main emphasis was selling cosmetics products. The "Pond's Vanishing Cream" and the "Pond's Cold Cream" were created, marking the entrance of Pond's products into the facial care industry. Today Ponds is sold around the world. Its largest markets are in Spain and in Asia, including India, Japan and Thailand.

The Story of Advertisement From Episode 1-4
The advertisment present the love story between Tom and Rose. Tom comes from rich family and Rose comes from poor family. Tom is handsome boy and Rose is pretty girl. They were falling in love and interested each other when they were in senior high school. Had one place where Tom showed his feelings to Rose. The place is a "love tree" in Ros village. Tom showed his feelings that he interested with Rose. Tom made a ring of flower and he put the ring in the finger’s Rose. Rose was happy because she was falling in love with Tom. When they were in happy condition, Rose saw the village was destroyed. The condition was changes because the leader of the project to destroyed Rose village is Tom’s mother. Rose suddenly run to her home she was also cried because the Rose’s home was destroyed. Rose’s mother and Rose’s father was cried when their home was destroyed.
After 6 years later after that tragedy; Rose and Tom desparated. Rose became a teacher in elementary school on that village. When she was teached suddenly she shocked that the school would be destroyed. And she was very shocked and speechless that she had saw Tom again. Tom grown up became a boss of his mother company. Tom come with his mother with the expensive car and bodyguard. But that was complicated situation for Tom. I can see that Tom and Rose still has feeling and still loving each other. But in this project Tom must be destroyed that school to made golf field with the name “Paradise View” and as you know the real leader and brain from this project was Tom’s mother. The eviction would be started in 7 days. Suddenly, Rose flashback in the moment when Tom and her sit down near the tree. When she was at home she saw the advertisement Pond’s Flawless White with tag line “Reduces dark spot in just 7 days” on the television. I think she was interested with the advertisement and she has planned to used the product so that she can got the flawless skin and more prettier and got Tom again and stile Tom’s heart. I think the main goal why she did it to change Tom’s mind thus, he did not destroyed that school.
Time flies and in 4 days the eviction will be started. Tom given flowers bouquet to Rose but her refused and look angry&sad because Tom was not stopped the project to destroyed the school. And Tom looked sad and he confused what he had to do at the time.
Rose come with bright face and looked prettier and it showed that Pond’s product which her used run as well. And the Rose given petition to Tom. She hopefully the petition could be change Tom mind. Tom looked interested with her and did not stop to saw Rose’s face. Suddenly they are flash back at the momment in near of the tree and showed their feeling each other. But Tom’s mom direct rejected the petition.
The day eviction come. Finally the school was burned and Rose very sad when she saw it. People who lived in the village can not do anything and they have to go out from the village. They were bring their lugages and move. But Rose did not followed them and she stayed. At the time Tom’s mom told to his employee to strike down the tree which so many memories Tom and Rose over there. Rose directly runs away to saved the tree. But at the situation the machine to srike down the tree also running. If nobody saved Rose she could die even getting strike by hard machine. Suddenly Tom run quickly to save her. Fortunatly both of them was safe. And Tom’s mom also saw the tragedy and she change her feeling to cancelled this project. Tom’s mother blesess the love between Tom and Rose. and this strory the end with happy ending. I think she change her mind because she saw truly love by Tom and Rose and saw the effort from Tom to saved Rose.
Now, what the relation between Ponds and Love Conquers All in the story?
Before Rose used this product she has dark spot in her face. I think she was interested with the advertisement because she hasd planned to got the flawless skin and more prettier in 7 days. Thus, she could got Tom again and stole Tom’s heart. I think the main goal from Rose was to change Tom’s mind so, Tom did not destroyed that school. But I am don't like this advertisement because this isn't to the point and this advertisment make me confused when I saw first time. I think this advertisement want to tell how this product can be change someone mind. the goal of this product to reduces dark spot in 7 days not to change someone mind. Thus, the relation Pond’s beetwen Love conquers all is not related because Tom had loving Rose before she used this product. And actually, Rose has beautiful face and I can see that Tom still loving her when both of them have to desperated. And then, Tom’s mother was conquered and blessed them not because Rose used this product and became prettier. However, because she saw Tom’s effort to saved Rose and maybe Tom’s mom could feel the strongest love beetwen Rose and Tom.
That’s all my analyse about related Love Conquers all and Pond’s product. I am sorry for the mistake if I have incorrect words or incorrect sentences. I hope my posting can be useful.
